Lakefield’s annual Ladies Night Out event raised $2500 to support families affected by a recent downtown fire that displaced five local families and destroyed the Kawartha Home Hardware building. Organizers made the announcement in a Facebook post on Tuesday, December 30.

Held annually in November, Ladies Night Out once again brought residents together for an evening of shopping, connection, and community spirit. In light of the devastating fire that took place the month prior, event organizers made the decision to donate proceeds from ticket sales to those affected. Thanks to the generosity of attendees, a total of $2,500 was raised, with $500 donated to each of the five displaced families.

In a social media post organizers stated, “This would not have been possible without our attendees. Your participation, generosity, and continued support are the reason we were able to give back in such a meaningful way. Thank you for showing up for your community.”

The post continued, “We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the downtown merchants who took part. Your time, effort, and collaboration are what make this event such a success year after year.”

The post thanked all participating merchants and says they look forward to next year’s event.
