Lakefield Youth Unlimited seeking support for summer student position

Lakefield Youth Unlimited (LYU) has launched a 1-100 Giving Box Campaign to help support a summer student position.

Ruby “Pickles” Gilbert has been working with LYU over the summer to support Outreach staff and local youth.

A statement posted on the Giving Box page reads, “Having Ruby on board helps our outreach workers carry forward the momentum we've built over the past year. She will be actively involved in running programs at the Barn, mentoring youth, supporting our weekly Bible studies, and being a friendly face at community events like the Lakefield Farmers Market, Jazz Fest, and the annual Street Sale. Her energy and commitment allow our team to expand our reach and continue to provide emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual support.”

With Ruby on the front lines, we have a unique opportunity to deepen these relationships, and connect more youth into our programs, and show up in even more meaningful ways across Lakefield.

The post continues, “In just a few short weeks, she’s connected with hundreds of kids in our local public school, sparking energy and curiosity about what LYU is all about. Her presence has opened doors, built new relationships, and created a real buzz among youth in our community. These early connections are just the beginning, and we’re excited to keep it going. With Ruby on the front lines, we have a unique opportunity to deepen these relationships, and connect more youth into our programs, and show up in even more meaningful ways across Lakefield.”

LYU has launched the campaign in hopes of funding Ruby’s 12 week placement by Friday, August 8.
