Lakefield Youth Unlimited kicks off Gift Card Drive and Love Lakefield Fundraiser

By Stacey Sullivan

Lakefield Youth Unlimited (LYU) has launched two exciting initiatives to support local youth and families this holiday season.

The 2025 Christmas Gift Card Drive invites the community to donate $25 gift cards from stores offering gifts for ages 0-18. Gift cards will be distributed to local families through schools and outreach workers so parents and caregivers can purchase a gift for their child to open on Christmas morning. LYU kindly asks that donated gift cards not be for grocery stores.

Cash, cheques, and e-transfers are also accepted, which will be converted into gift cards. Donors are encouraged to shop local whenever possible.

Donations for the Christmas Gift Card Drive can be made in several ways:

  • Drop-off: LYU Barn, 25 Bridge Street, Lakefield, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

  • E-transfer: donate@youthunlimitedkaw.com (memo: LYU Gift Card Drive)

  • Cheque: Made out to Youth Unlimited (memo: LYU Gift Card Drive)

  • Online: lakefieldyouthunlimited.com/donate, designate to Gift Card Fund

Please drop off donations by Thursday, December 11 at 4:00 p.m.

In addition to the gift card drive, LYU is celebrating Giving Tuesday on December 2 with the launch of their Love Lakefield campaign.

For $20, community members can purchase a tote bag and magnet with the Love Lakefield logo. These locally made items are available throughout the Village at various locations including the LYU Barn, IDA Pharmacy, The Nutty Bean Cafe, Happenstance Books & Yarn, Stuff, and Selwyn Makerspace, as well as online at friendlilyshop.com.

Proceeds from sales support the LYU Gift Card Drive, helping to provide gifts for youth in need.
