Lakefield Singers launch Beatles themed spring session March 2

Research shows that group singing improves mental and physical health, as well as strengthening social bonds. Put simply, a community that sings together, thrives together. For 15 years, the Lakefield Singers have been doing just that - providing a welcoming space where music lovers can find their voice and make new friends.

The Singers are now launching their spring 2026 season, which begins March 2nd at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in Lakefield. Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings and all are welcome to join (no auditions necessary). The theme for the 10-week spring session is “Beatles’ Hits” so expect a revival of Beatlemania with plenty of toe-tapping chart toppers.

Lakefield Singers began in 2011 as a small group called ‘Women of Note’. Since then it has grown to become a mixed choir with 30 to 40 members, singing in four part harmony. Members don’t need to be able to read music as learning tracks are provided. Choir Director Kim Bailey joined the group last year following the retirement of former director Linda Clark, and brings a wealth of musical experience with her.

An accomplished musician, singer, and former music teacher, Kim says her goal is to help people develop musically while also enjoying themselves. “We are a choir for all levels. If you can hold a note, you can join,” she says. “My job is to meet people where they’re at and help them get better but that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun. This is a close-knit group and we have a lot of laughs as we learn.”

The Lakefield Singers spring term runs March 2 - May 11, excluding Easter Monday. The final Monday of the season is a performance party and social. Rehearsals take place Monday nights from 6:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church in Lakefield. F
