Free senior skating returns thanks to a local sponsor
The Township of Selwyn has announced the return of free senior skating at the Lakefield-Smith Community Centre, made possible through a generous sponsorship from The Regency of Lakefield.
Thanks to The Regency’s continued support, all senior skating sessions in Lakefield will be free of charge for participants aged 55 and over throughout the 2025–2026 season. The drop-in senior skate offers a slower paced leisurely skate, and is a great way to stay active in the cooler months.
Senior Skating in Lakefield
Senior Skating sessions run every Tuesday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Lakefield-Smith Community Centre, 20 Concession Street. The season begins Tuesday, October 7, 2025, and continues until Friday, March 27, 2026.
Parent & Tot Skating in Lakefield
Parent & Tot Skating also returns on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This slower-paced, leisurely skate is a great way to introduce your child to skating. Admission is $3.00 per person.
Public Skating in Lakefield
Public Skating begins Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Lakefield-Smith Community Centre. Admission is $3.00 per person, with some free sessions thanks to local sponsors. Public skating in Lakefield takes place on Saturdays, with additional dates available during the Christmas holidays, PolarFest, Family Day, and March Break.
